Before MOVE+breathe existed, John and I ran two separate businesses.

I had a yoga studio. John had a sports performance & training gym.

We shared clients, people who were lifting with him and practicing yoga with me, and over time, we started noticing the same thing: when people did both, they felt better. They moved better. They recovered better. They stayed healthier longer.

Eventually, we realized we weren’t meant to work separately, we were meant to work together. And that’s where the philosophy behind MOVE+breathe was born.

Our philosophy is simple we call it: A balanced movement diet.

Most of us understand what a balanced food diet looks like. You wouldn’t eat only chicken, even though protein matters. You also wouldn’t eat only broccoli, even though it’s full of fiber and phytonutrients. Your body needs variety to truly thrive.

Movement works the same way. We think of movement in three essential buckets.

The first is cardio.
We believe this is best done outdoors whenever possible. Walking, jogging, biking, hiking, running, pickleball. Getting outside matters. Sunlight matters. Fresh air matters. Lifting your eyes away from screens and moving in the real world matters. We all need 150 minutes of cardio each week.

The second bucket is strength.
This is where classes like MOVE, BURN, and CORE come in. Strength training supports bone health, muscle health, and long-term resilience. We recommend getting into the gym at least two but ideally three times per week to build and maintain strength.

The third bucket is recovery.
This includes yoga, our flow, gentle and ROLL classes are all great options. Recovery supports mobility, joint health, nervous system regulation, and mental well-being. It’s not a bonus, it’s essential.

When these three buckets are in balance, people feel better in their bodies: physically, mentally, and emotionally. They move better. They recover better. Their heart health, bone health, and overall well-being improve.

Real women. Real scans. Real results.

Last week, something really special happened. A member brought in her most recent DEXA scan and asked if we could look at it together. She’s 77 years old, and her bone density, both spine and hip, is solidly in the normal range. Strong. Stable. Healthy. Then, almost back-to-back, another member shared the news that she is no longer osteopenic. After being told she had low bone density, she committed [...]

Meet Melissa

I want to introduce you to someone really special in our community. Meet Melissa. A few years ago, Melissa was deep in the powerlifting world. She was spending hours and hours in the gym, training hard, competing, and giving it everything she had. She was strong, disciplined, and committed. But like so many people, something still felt off. Fast forward to three years ago, when Melissa walked into MOVE+breathe [...]

Chocolate Coffee Protein Oats

Sometimes in the morning, I don’t want complicated. I just want something yummy, satisfying, and nourishing that I can throw together quickly. This recipe actually started on accident. I had some leftover coffee I didn’t finish and needed to make breakfast for the next day. I thought, what if I added chocolate and coffee to my overnight oats? Turns out… it was SO good. Now I keep cold brew on hand so I can [...]
